Books for Businessmen & Aspiring Billionaires

A key characteristic of an entrepreneur is self-motivation. When you are the boss, there are no 1:1 meetings to inspire you to reach new goals or bonuses. Advice is hard to come by unless you have a strong network of mentors. But even then,  business owners wonder, “how can I be better to make more money?”. The answer to being better is books! It is how we have recorded our knowledge for centuries and luckily, books are far more easily accessible to gain wisdom. So take advantage of the summer weather, pick up a book and learn. Here are my top 4 books for businessmen and aspiring billionaire entrepreneurs:

 1. The Millionaire Fastlane, by M.J. DeMarco

This book teaches that the traditional way of making money is not going to make you a millionaire (or billionaire). You have to be an entrepreneur in some way and it requires planning ahead and avoiding the urge to splurge. There is life in the slow lane (the traditional route of climbing the corporate ladder) and then there is the entrepreneur fast lane. This book explains how to be a problem solver which will put you in the fast lane. If you haven’t started your business yet or are in need of a new direction for your business, read this one first.

2. How to Win Friends and Influence People, by Dale Carnegie

You have probably heard of this book before and if you have not read it, this is your sign to finally pick up the audiobook. It teaches you how to make professional relationships and how to gain trust, especially when you are doing business.

3.The Power of Habit Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business, by Charles Duhigg

Bad habits are human nature but if you want to be an above-average entrepreneur, you have to be able to recognize and change them. This book details how we can get rid of our vices and improve. This book is also chalk full of practical advice so even if you think you don’t have any bad habits, it is worth a read.

4.“Rich Dad, Poor Dad”, by Robert Kiyoaski

I read this book back in my college days and it has forever changed my mindset on money. I recommend this for everyone, but especially young entrepreneurs who could use a little extra money advice before making some grave mistakes themselves.

If you read through this list and felt like you could use one of these books in particular, I recommend exiting this screen and buying it now. Don’t let yourself forget and hold yourself accountable because 88% of rich people “devote thirty minutes or more each day to self-education or self-improvement reading” so if you want to be a billionaire businessman, it’s time to crack open a book or put in your headphone to start listening.
